A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object. Some examples of prepositions are words like

 “in,” “at,” “on,” “of,” and “to.” 

we have two types of Arabic prepositions which are primary and secondary

There are 21 primary prepositions which are divided into 2 subgroups: separated and connected “bound”

Here are the primarily separated prepositions  

As in English, the meanings of the prepositions are changeable depending on the previous verb.

Here are the Primary prepositions with their basic meanings 

from من – to إلى  – until حتى – except خلا  – far from – except عدا – in في – on على  – since مذ – since منذ –  perhapsرُبَّ  لعل – whenever متى – to كي – about عن – forbid حاشا 

The connected prepositions are 

Like  الكاف 

By الباء

التاء 

الواو 

Are prepositions used for oath 

To اللام 

The noun that comes after a preposition is changed to a genitive case. This means that the last letter of the word will be changed from a /đammah to a kasrah

كتبت بالقلمِ I wrote by pen 

تاللهِ I swear to god

ذَهَبَ أَحْمَدُ إِلَى الْعملِ Ahmed went to work
